Buckworth Cricket Club Welcomes You

Your community hub in Buckworth #theclub

The Cricket Club in Buckworth sits in the centre of the village both physically and in the hearts and minds of all those who come along. Over the years it has been host to many village activities and has provided a friendly place for its members to gather for a drink or two....

The Club opens regularly for Friday Night drinks, bingo, 'Food with Friends' and a number of clubs providing a much needed venue for the community. The club is also available to hire for private parties, meetings and training events and is used as the village Polling Station.

It has a fully licensed bar with inside and outside seating available. There is a pool table, a darts board and a skittles table for all to use to add to the fun.

The Clubhouse was originally set up as the home of the Buckworth Cricket Club when the local pub closed. George Brown, a Buckworth farmer, provided the building next to the Manor House in Church Road together with the necessary materials to enable it to be turned into a clubhouse. The Clubhouse was opened in 1958 after five months of hard work.

Buckworth Cricket Club’s last cricket match was played in 1984, with the team’s demise following the creation of the Alconbury Sports and Social Club which was able to offer a level playing field free of grazing livestock! The club however continues to thrive providing a real community hub to this beautiful village.

In line with the guidance, we will only have outdoor seating available so please dress for sitting outside. The club will be providing table service and would ask that you wear a mask when not sat at your table.

We can’t wait to see you - so wrap up warm, bring a blanket and come along and have a drink or two with us.

Sunday Recharge

Pre-Covid19, we used to open on a Sunday morning once a fortnight for coffee, pastries and the Sunday papers - what's not to like?
We opened at 11am for coffee and pastries and the bar opened at 12 for those who wanted to partake of a Sunday lunchtime. It was great to enjoy a leisurely Sunday recharge before we closed at 3pm.

Friday Night Drinks

Pre-covid, we would open the club at the end of the week for a well earned drink and chat with friends. The pool table is waiting, the darts board is ready and the skittles table is set. We opened at 7:30pm until 11pm. The drinks are cold and the welcome is warm - we hope to see you soon at Friday Night Drinks again as soon as we can.

Bingo

Pre-Covid19, on the first Saturday of every month, we held bingo in the club. It was a great evening of fun for all ages with the bar open and lots of laughs. We hope to restart as soon as we can.
